Is it too early for… the “C” word????
I can not actually believe that we have just sent our kiddiewinks back to school after the October holidays, it is only 5 minutes since they went back after the Summer!!! Now I have to try and get my poor brain around C*&^%£mas seeing as we now have Halloween and Guy Faulkes under our belts. I can’t even bring myself to say it, let alone type it out but yes, I am indeed referring to CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!
We kicked off November with our first ever Christmas Fayre!!! What a fabulous way to get out and meet people and spread the Turning Potty word. It was such a pleasure to go along to Kirkcaldy & District Men’s Shed, to help support them and raise funds for the Men’s Shed. They do such incredible work there and they have a plethora of talented beings that welcome you with open arms and a fresh brew.

As we are rapidly heading towards December and the big day, Turning Potty has been very busy behind the scenes, preparing for Christmas Fayres to further spread the word of what TP is all about. Bringing people together to promote self confidence, improve self esteem, combat loneliness, motivate and inspire and encourage people, in a safe space, whilst learning a new skill. Its more than clay or wood, it goes way deeper than that, try it, and you will see, I promise.

Dipping my toe into Blogging….sounds messy!!!
It all begins with an idea.
Ok, so i have to move with the times and get with this whole BLOGGING concept!!! It may give me a chance to explain more about what I hope for Turning Potty and what is happening right now!!! Here goes…….
Billy and I started Turning Potty because of our love of getting creative as well as reaping the benefits and improving our mental health.
I had always wanted to try pottery, Keith Brymer Jones (The Great Pottery Throw Down) always made it look so easy and I could feel his passion when speaking of other peoples creations, and getting so emotional about it. That’s me!!!! I love how I can take something so natural and make it into something useful, fun, beautiful, the list of nouns is endless. I also loved how it took me away into a world where there was no stress, noise, chaos or expectation. What came out at the end was mine, from the heart and made by me, like my children!!!! And that made me happy.
I wanted to bring that joy and creativity to other people to make them happy. To leave behind whatever stresses or worries or anxieties they may have and come into a world where it was just them and the clay, to just be as one.
But it’s now more than that. It is a medium that can make your life better…….how??
By being welcomed into a space, with like minded people, from every different background, coming together for the better good. It makes people feel relaxed, less anxious. It allows them to be their own person in their own time. The mental health benefits are MASSIVE. It calms, excites, frustrates and ignites a passion in people that i never thought was possible…out of a lump of mud!!! How fantastic is that!!!
And now I am doing that!!!! People come along to classes and tell me they feel the same. They like to come because its their time. The time just flies in and they need more time. The calmness and creativity is addictive, an obsession to be embraced. It makes them happy…..I have achieved what I set out to do.
So, my saying for the day, in the words of Bob Marley……..
“Don’t worry, be happy” :)
Feed your (clay) addicition, it’s perfectly legal!!!!!!
Have a lovely day Folks.
